HO99O9 Drops Darker, Heavier New Single “Batteries Not Included”

Ho99o9 is back with a brand new, darker single “Batteries Not Included” produced by ever-present Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. The single certainly takes a heavier turn than Ho99o9 has previously done before and it works really well – dudes are blending industrial, rap, and metal better and better with every release.

“There’s only but so much mental and physical affliction + oppression the human psyche can [endure] before they reach the pinnacle of no return,” said Ho99o9. “I think we’ve all had our moments where we’re fed up, our mind isn’t rational, our eyesight is only seeing red and within that sequence, emotions can get the best of us, if any. The first single is aimed to focus on once past the conscience state of no return, anything is liable to happen when pushed past your limits.”

Ho99o9 will hit the road with Slipknot and Cypress Hill this May.

MIDNIGHT Gets Szexy With New Single “Szex Witchery”

Midnight is back with a real down and dirty good time on their new song “Szex Witchery.” If you’re looking for an almost punk rock Motörhead-esque take on classic heavy metal, then you’re really going to dig what Midnight has to offer. If not, then you simply dislike fun and I can’t help you.

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

“I always want it to be loud and nasty,” said Midnight mastermind Athenar about the song. “That kinda thing never gets old with me. How funny will that look to see me at age 77 – if I reach that point – sitting on the porch blasting Hellhammer?”

Athenar also offered some sound advice on getting into the music of Midnight. In short, just lower your expectations and stop taking good advice.

“If I were to give actual good advice, I would say stay clear of anything to do with Midnight. But I’m not a rational thinker, so as usual, I will give terrible advice and say punish your earholes and play this album as loud as your stereo goes, go out to a gig and mingle with others that you don’t know, lick their faces and rub upon each other’s sweaty torsos to the hellish, neanderthalish noise of a band called Midnight! You gotta release your demons somehow! That’s why you should give a shit, or two.”

Midnight will release Let There Be Witchery on March 4. Pre-orders are available here.

HAMMERFALL Teams With KING DIAMOND For New Single “Venerate Me”

Hammerfall is celebrating the 50th birthday of guitarist and vocalist Oscar Dronjak with a new single “Venerate Me” featuring King Diamond on vocals. The single also doubles as the second single off their coming record Hammer Of Dawn due out February 25.

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

“The second single is here, and I’m very, very proud of it!” said Dronjak. “The music was written during the darkest, most uninspiring days of the pandemic and still came out as one of the strongest on the whole album. Joacim’s fantastic lyric idea makes this track really stand out, and the special guest appearance towards the end really pushes it over the edge!”

“The song is over loaded with enchanting melodies and a very catchy chorus,” said vocalist Joacim Cans. “Lyrically one of my greatest efforts dealing with the fact that we die twice! First when we take our last breath and second when someone says your name for the last time. Say my name and I will never die!”

Pre-orders for Hammer Of Dawn are available here.

ALLEGAEON Streams Diverse New Single “Of Beasts And Worms”

Allegaeon is now streaming their new single “Of Beasts And Worms,” complete with an entire first section loaded with organs and clean vocals. It’s an interesting shift for an otherwise technical band, and one that segues perfectly into a heavier second half.

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

“This newest single ‘Of Beasts and Worms’ is about finding a place of inner quiet, a safe haven to explore your thoughts and escape from the anxieties of your life,” said the band. “This lyrical intention is paired with a depiction of disparity and tiredness with the world around you and the stressors that contribute to the deafening silence of the mundane.

“In the music video, we showcase a more physical – and graphic – display of this thought process where the escape from the daily grind is manifested into a willing self-sacrifice. Though a dramatization, this concept of sacrifice to find your own personal peace can be applied to something less tangible and played an important role in my own process while writing the lyrics for Damnum. Thank you for watching and listening, we hope you enjoy it.”

Damnum is available for pre-order here.

MY HOLLOW Allows The Puppets To Take Over In New Single “Vultures”

If you’re looking for a solid orchestral, melodic death metal track to kick off your week, then look no further than our premiere of the new My Hollow single “Vulture.” The single comes alongside a video created by vocalist Graham Gaudreault‘s wife Jennifer White. And who doesn’t love the pairing of heavy metal and puppets? Nobody, that’s who.

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

“The music video for ‘Vultures’ was single-handedly designed and created by Graham‘s amazing wife and very talented tattoo artist, Jennifer White. She has been creating our artwork for almost as long as we’ve been a band,” bassist Sean De Faria.

Jen and Graham went over the details and she came back with a storyboard complete with different acts and scenes and it was clear at that moment that her talents were definitely not limited to static artwork. Then we saw the puppets she had created to go along with the storyboard; she poured hours into it and we think it turned out amazing. The level of detail in these puppets was way more than we were expecting, and it’s so cool to see ourselves represented as puppets.”

“Vultures” is off the My Hollow EP Fighting The Monsters, which features a guest appearance from Soilwork vocalist Björn Strid. The EP was mixed and mastered by Tyler Williams of Monolithic Productions, and is due out later this year.

FALLS OF RAUROS Changes Their Sound Up On New Single “Clarity”

Falls Of Rauros is now streaming their new single “Clarity” off the upcoming record Key To A Vanishing Future. The single is a pretty big departure from the usual bludgeoning and blackened sounds of Falls Of Rauros, which they point out was a very intentional and conscious decision. And for a band that just changed its sound, Falls Of Rauros seems to have immediately nailed it.

“We wanted to write something new to us; it sounds nothing like our previous record, Patterns in Mythology, or like anything from our back catalog, for that matter,” said the band. “It’s a new chapter for the band, and you can be pretty sure we’ll move on to something a bit different on our next record.”

FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY Streams Chunky New Single “A Higher Level Of Hate”

If you’re looking for stutter-pattern vocals, chunky riffs that only seem to get lower as time goes on, and a rhythm section that hits like a truck, you’re gonna want to hear this new Fit For An Autopsy single. “A Higher Level Of Hate” is off the new Fit For An Autopsy record Oh What The Future Holds, out now and available here.

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

Fit For An Autopsy vocalist recently said in an interview with Metal Injection that Oh What The Future Holds is in a way a continuation of their previous record The Sea Of Tragic Beasts, in that the band has really found their sound.

“Yeah, I think we found the spot where we’re trying to excel in and I think that we’re going to ride that out, but we’re also going to keep spicing it and throwing in a couple other little screwdrivers in there because we just love that. You know what I’m saying? Like, I love recording stuff with Will all the time. It’s so much fun because I get to see the ideas. He’s like I’m kind of feeling this or I like this voice. I want to hear something that doesn’t exist. And I’m sure we’ll figure it out. And so after a year of just being in quarantine and everything, we went and started recording the record, it was like that’s weird, but that’s cool. And I was like that’s fucking sick! Hell yeah.

“It’s so crazy that the whole vibe you get when you’re doing the record after you’ve been off for a year and just practicing all these new things and seeing what you can bring to the table this time and then seeing what you get out of it at the end. That’s the payoff. At the end when you just hit play and you listen to that entire record and you’re just like that fuckin’ paid off. That worked, that was sick.”

VENOM PRISON Streams Pissed-Off New Single “Nemesis”

Venom Prison is back with another single “Nemesis” and, much like everything else we’ve heard from their coming record Erebos, it’s super pissed off. Venom Prison issued a statement alongside the song explaining its lyrics, which deal with abuse and the resulting trauma.

Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.

“This song is about the urge to hurt the person who has caused you irreparable harm and has changed your life forever. It deals with having been left to fix the damage done to you all by yourself. This specifically relates to experiencing narcissistic abuse and the trauma resulting from it.

“Narcissists tend to pick empaths as their victims because they are emotional sponges who can absorb feelings from other people easily and this makes them very attractive to narcissists as these people will fulfil all of their needs in a selfless way.

“This results in a parasitic relationship. With ‘Nemesis’ we wanted to capture the emotions of aggression, determination and pain in a more traditional Venom Prison manner. Bringing you brutal moments, energetic pace and the head banging assault of heavy metal.”

Venom Prison will release Erebos on February 4. Pre-orders are available here.
