HO99O9 Drops Darker, Heavier New Single “Batteries Not Included”

Ho99o9 is back with a brand new, darker single “Batteries Not Included” produced by ever-present Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. The single certainly takes a heavier turn than Ho99o9 has previously done before and it works really well – dudes are blending industrial, rap, and metal better and better with every release.

“There’s only but so much mental and physical affliction + oppression the human psyche can [endure] before they reach the pinnacle of no return,” said Ho99o9. “I think we’ve all had our moments where we’re fed up, our mind isn’t rational, our eyesight is only seeing red and within that sequence, emotions can get the best of us, if any. The first single is aimed to focus on once past the conscience state of no return, anything is liable to happen when pushed past your limits.”

Ho99o9 will hit the road with Slipknot and Cypress Hill this May.

Urbanstep Drops 17 Track Groundbreaking Album, ‘Stages’

We are always massive fans of diverse sound design and super innovative production. Today, we have the privilege to share with you guys the latest album from Urbanstep, ‘STAGES’. This multi genre album takes the listener on an mind-bending and genre redefining experience from rock, to hiphop to trap production. Urban step comments on the album’s creation:

‘This album is a massive concept that was systematically created, polished and released throughout a year as singles & EPs that formed main thought and the idea of the overall message of the album. I wanted to tell a story of both myself & the state of this day and age society. Some thoughts are depicted in vocal format, some are only instrumental.’

Recently nominated for Latvian Grammy, Urbanstep is making moves and definitely a name people should keep an eye on. Enjoy this profound body of sound design and mould breaking production.

Trailer for ‘Moon Knight’ drops

Marvel just dropped a trailer for the upcoming Disney Plus series Moon Knight and hooo boy it’s the most excited I’ve been for an MCU project in a while. For the past few years we’ve been getting rehashes or spin-offs of superheroes that have already appeared in a handful of films. The only brand-spankin’ new leads have been Shang-Chi and The Eternals (and The Eternals kind of sucked). So I’m excited to see a new masked face enter the fold.

Better yet, this trailer looks promising. I’m not too familiar with Moon Knight. I owned maybe two comics as a kid. All I remember is he was a mercenary who was gravely wounded and revived by an Egyptian moon god, who gave him a second shot at life as long as he devoted himself to saving people, not killing them. But his biggest draw, the attribute setting him apart from the stuffed and sprawling Marvel Universe, was that he had a dissociative identity disorder and multiple alter egos. The live-action series seems to be leaning heavily into the disorder. “I can’t tell the difference between life and dreams,” Oscar Isaac says in the trailer. This might mean we will get a whole bunch of hallucinations and mind-fuckery that will make Moon Knight fresh and thrilling: are the people, places and things we see in the show real? Or are they fabrications of Moon Knight’s mind? The unreliable main character perspective is an experiment Marvel has only dabbled in once with last year’s Wandavision — and they totally nailed it. Maybe Moon Knight will do it, too.

Shit could get downright strange. And an actor like Isaac is certainly capable of portraying the derangement the lead will require. Also, our resident movie buff Jacob tells me that a pair of guys named Benson and Moorhead are directing a few of the episodes, and they’ve made some seriously weird stuff including ‘The Endless’, a freaky-deaky flick about a UFO death cult. So yeah. All signs are coming up Weird.

The original series starts streaming on March 30 exclusively on Disney Plus.

ABYSMAL DAWN Drops Off OBSCURA Tour Due To “Private Reasons”

Abysmal Dawn has dropped off their coming tour with Obscura, Vale of Pnath, and Interloper for “private reasons.” Obscura said they respect Abysmal Dawn‘s choice and that the tour will continue as a three-band package.

Abysmal Dawn are forced to pull out of our tour due to private reasons we honor and respect. We will travel with a three band package instead and cannot wait to hit the road next month to see all of our fans in the Unites States and Canada! The world looks bright again and there is nothing better than celebrating our brand new album A Valediction and a selected best-of set with all of you. Pick up your tickets and see you in a bit!”

Abysmal Dawn vocalist and guitarist Charles Elliott issued a separate statement on behalf of the band, saying the decision to drop off the tour wasn’t an easy one.

Abysmal Dawn regrets to announce that we will not be able to join our brothers in Obscura, Vale of Pnath, and Interloper across North America this February/March. In all my years of touring since 2006, I’ve never canceled a tour and I have always found a way to make it work against sometimes seemingly impossible odds.

“Please believe us when we say it wasn’t an easy decision, and it’s for reasons we’d like to keep private at the moment. Our sincerest apologies to the fans that were hoping to see us on this one, but it was not meant to be. We wish the other bands a successful tour, and we hope to see you and all your beautiful-smiling-healthy faces again in the near future.”

Burko Drops “Infrared” + Debut EP Announce

San Diego has become a mecca for house and techno in the USA over the past several years. Quickly rising in the scene is SD-native Burko who dropped a monster-of-a-track “Infrared” ahead of his debut EP. On the track, Burko tells us: “The very first single, “Infrared,” off my upcoming EP, is out today featuring the lovely Mary Helen laying down some hypnotic vocals. This song has been one of the staples in my sets the past year and I’m excited to be able to finally share it. This release marks the first of four tracks on the Infrared EP.”

Falling in love with the electronic music scene in Amsterdam, Burko got his start DJ’ing abroad in Amsterdam where he thrived in the Dutch underground circuit. He returned stateside with a fresh admiration for the scene, bringing with him a uniquely dark-yet-melodic sound that launched him to the forefront of the California ware-house scene in a very short order.

In 2021 Burko released a string of remixes on SoundCloud, giving popular tracks by ACRAZE, Billie Eilish, Flume, Muse, Hans Zimmer and The Temper Trap his signature Medieval House spin.

Cue Ubbi Dubbi’s exclusive Camping Area Stage, hosted by Gravitas Recordings. As Disco Donnie put it, “the Gravitas Stage was initially on our 2020 lineup, but we unfortunately had to cancel the event. I’ve been really excited about this stage concept and couldn’t wait to bring it back for this year!”

The Gravitas Stage will be making its Ubbi Dubbi debut, featuring what is sure to be an electrifying pre-party hosted by Blunts & Blondes. A few standout up and coming acts also featured on this stage are Black Carl!, who creates some of the most forward thinking bass music around, and Megan Hamilton, whose music blends hip-hop influences with gritty funk and house elements.

Along with the Gravitas Stage, Ubbi Dubbi will offer its first ever glamping option, sure to have even the boujeest festival-goers considering camping. It includes luxury bathrooms, complimentary daily continental breakfast, a free massage, and plenty more.
